About Evara

A gift from the gods,
set in the wild

Six acres at the edge of the sal forest, twelve kilometres from the Corbett gate, and a great deal of deliberate quiet.

Our story

Why we built it here

Evara means "a gift of god". The name came after the land did. What sold us on this stretch of Patkote was not the acreage but the sound of it — birdsong at six in the morning, the odd distant alarm call from the forest, and then almost nothing until the evening.

We are twelve kilometres from the Jim Corbett gate, which is close enough to make the 6:30 AM safari without an unreasonable alarm, and far enough that the resort does not feel like a car park with rooms attached. Six acres gave us room to spread seventy-four keys out into standalone cottages rather than stack them into a block.

What we set out to build was a boutique property with a full-service spine: a real kitchen, a real spa, a banquet hall that can hold a wedding, and staff who have been here long enough to remember returning guests. Boutique in feel; complete in what it can actually do for you.

How we work

Kumaoni hospitality,
run properly

Three things we are stubborn about.

Most of our team is from the villages around Patkote and most of them have been here since we opened. Guests name them in reviews — Chandan and Champa turn up more often than the pool does. That continuity is the whole product.

The kitchen is ours. The spa therapists are ours. The travel desk that books your permit is ours, sitting in the lobby, reachable at 5 AM. When something goes wrong you are talking to the person who can fix it.

We kept the mature trees when we built, we run on full power backup rather than generators through the night, and we ask guests not to play music on the lawn after ten. The quiet is why you came.
